Ergonomic Assessment

A workstation ergonomic assessment is aimed at eliminating or reducing risk of injury to your staff by ensuring the worker’s computer workstation setup fits their body shape and work behaviours as opposed to fitting the worker to provided equipment and workstation layout.

Typically our computer workstations are setup by workers themselves and has the potential to cause a great deal of harm if not designed properly. A workstation ergonomic assessment will help ensure that your employee’s computer is correctly setup, reducing the potential of suffering musculoskeletal discomfort or incurring a potential worker’s compensation injury, and improving productivity.

Poor workplace ergonomics is a known workplace hazard to be assessed and actioned to reduce the risk of injury and employers have a duty to provide a safe workplace. By engaging with yourself and your staff during a workstation ergonomics assessment we will provide the understanding of what good workstation setup looks like, provide practical solutions to reduce stress to the body and assist your workplace to manage this OHS risk. A workplace ergonomic assessment benefits:

  • New starters
  • Workers who have either a work or non-work related injury
  • Workers who have a medical condition (including pregnancy) that may be impacted by their work at a computer workstation
  • Workers working from home. If working from home is agreed (or known to occur) by the employer, this becomes a workers place of work. It is important to ensure that the home work environment; in line with the office work environment, is safe and ergonomically designed

Regular reassessment of the workstation setup is recommended following the initial ergonomic assessment to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of the setup to reduce potential of discomfort and injury. P3 Risk and Safety Solutions would welcome the opportunity to assist with scheduling periodic reassessments but believe that we can upskill and empower you to undertake this activity yourself.
